UNGASAN, BALI: Happy Children, Happy Adults

“I believe the children are our future” – a quote from Whitney Houston’s classic hit, The Greatest Love of All, is a statement which we as a family in Bali Soap – believe wholeheartedly. Giving them hope and joy, even in small gestures can significantly uplifts their spirits. Hence, we reached out to Bali Life Foundation orphanage in Ungasan, Bali. Bali Life Foundation’s Children’s Home in Ungasan is a well-maintained orphanage that houses 41 children – from toddler to teenage age with the care and guidance of 9 working staff that provide the children with physical, emotional and spiritual education. It is located in a quiet Ungasan neighbourhood, on the hillside and southern part of Bali, about 40 minutes from the airport. The shelter also has a farm nearby which provides a portion of food for the children in addition to the donation from sponsors.

Here in Bali Soap, we love to balance work and play by creating a cheerful and laid-back work environment and another way to do that is by paying a visit to Bali Life Foundation’s orphanage in Ungasan, Bali. Why? Because being around children reminds us that we used to be children too, with a sunny outlook on life, vibrant enthusiasm and playfulness that help us get through some tough times. In these uncertain and gloomy times, we thought we would like to cheer up some children in any little way we can.

Our way of making these children happy was by handing out 150 bar soaps and 50 body mists, 50 instant noodles, 49 pieces of used clothes and 20 mosquito coils and all the staff got their share of goods too. Bali Life Foundation also has off-site projects and one of them was a charity trip back to Tembok village in Tejakula, Buleleng district, Bali where we contributed 25 soaps, 50 body mists and 25 massage oils in addition to their essential care packages.

The overall atmosphere felt warm and homey and you can’t help but smile, looking at these happy, free-spirited with their wide grin on their faces. Although the visits we did in June and July 2021 still had its restrictions due to the covid-19 situation, we managed to at least give them small gifts of soaps, body mists, used clothes, instant noodles and mosquito coils. All of our donated products are worth Rp 5,560,000 including the donation to their off-site project for the villagers in the northwestern part of Bali – Tembok, Buleleng.
